Touriga Franca
One of the most planted castes in the Douro and Trás-os-Montes regions is the Touriga Franca. It is considered one of the best castes for producing Porto and Douro wine but its cultivation area has been extended to the regions of Bairrada, Ribatejo, Setúbal and Estremadura. Touriga Franca has regular productions all year round and is very resistant to diseases. It’s bunches are medium or large with medium and round berries. The wines produced from this caste have an intense colour and are very fruity. The Touriga Franca joins Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional in the Porto wine.
