The Vineyard The Vineyard
Quinta do Pôpa is made from a traditional vineyard located in the oldest appellation region in the world, recognized for its superior quality wines with unique characteristics, planted on terraces over fifty years ago. The Quinta is proud to present a mixture of red and very noble castes which are made from Trincadeira Preta or Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, Barroca, Touriga Nacional and Malvasia Preta that are distributed through an area of 1.9 hectares.
Quinta do Pôpa also has new plantations, from 2003, with grafts that were prepared with selected and certified vegetative materials (rods) and divided by castes (Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz or Tinto Cão) and strips of land. Nowadays, the new vineyard corresponds to an area of 6.57 hectares and is terraced.
The second planting phase began in 2007 and covered over 3 hectares of land, continuing in 2008 with another 3 hectares.
Quinta do Pôpa also buys 50 tonnes of grapes each year from farmers surrounding the Quinta stimulating the development of the local agricultural community. We monitor and a technically control these vineyards in order to guarantee maximum quality of the grapes.
