The Vineyard The Region

The Appellation Douro Region is the oldest recognized wine region in the world and is located in northwest Portugal.

This singular and mountainous region, with more than 1400 meters of altitude, has a very particular climatic and geological conditions and is characterized by extremely dry summers and very cold and dry winters.

The formation of microclimates due to these climacteric conditions reflects on the vineyards that therefore acquire very different characteristics.

The high thermal amplitudes, the abundance of slate in the soil (that helps to compensate the accentuated temperature variations), the magnificent landscapes and the typical natural conditions give colour and form to the Appellation Douro Region – World Heritage of UNESCO.
