Tinta Barroca
The Tinta Barroca caste is almost exclusively produced in the Douro region and used a lot in the production wine using various castes. Some Porto wines are made from this caste however; it single variety wines are not very famous. The Tinta Barroca is very popular amongst producers because it is very easy to plant and has high production levels. It’s a caste that has a very regular production and is resistant to diseases and plagues. It also is early maturating and its berries have a high sugar concentration that originates wines with high alcohol levels. The wines produced from the Tinta Barroca caste are easy to drink and the tannins are soft. However most of the time they are not very balanced or concentrated.
